Edinburgh, Scotland:  Easel

In 2002, I had the pleasure of meeting John Leighton, then director of the Van Gogh Museum in Amsterdam.  We spent an hour discussing Vincent van Gogh, public art and the easel project.

Today, Sir John Leighton is the Director General of the National Museums of Scotland:

We continue to talk, on a not-so-regular basis about the possibility of a Scottish Easel in Edinburgh.  Since Edinburgh is a UNESCO Heritage site, this will not be an easy task, but I remain hopeful.

My grandfather - Andrew Cross was born in Edinburgh before immigrating to Canada.  So, there seems to be a wee bit of destiny in the air.
