When immigrants from developing countries arrive in Canada or the USA, there’s a striking new reality to their lives - the ability to turn on the tap, and have access to clean water.

This public art proposal speaks to the precious nature of safe, clean water. Approximately 1.8 billion people in the world lack access to safe water. Water-borne diseases kill approximately 800,000 people every year.

Good public art should be appreciated on many different levels. While enjoying the cool, falling water of this public art fountain – my wish is that people will also reflect on the many issues (social, environmental and political) surrounding water.
